Classic European Cookie made with apricot preserves. Not too sweet, just perfect!

One of our family's favorite cookie! A Xmas tradition. Everyone just loves these!! Kiflice or Kipfel is a crescent-shaped cookie and easy to make.

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 sticks of European Unsalted Butter, room temperature, cut into little squares 2 eggs (beaten with fork)
  • 1 package Vanilla Sugar
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • Apricot Preserves
  • Icing sugar
  • Parchment Paper
  • Large cookie sheet

In a large bowl add flour and butter

  1. Add 1 cup sour cream
  2. Add Vanilla Sugar
  3. Add the beaten eggs
  4. Start mixing with your hands until dough forms a ball and is soft and pliable and totally incorporated then knead for couple mins or so
  5. Start rolling the dough into a log (see video)
  6. Cut dough into 6 pieces
  7. Shape into rough ball and cover with plastic wrap, refrigerate for 1 hour

  1. I use a Nonstick Silicone Pastry Mat it makes your baking much easier!
  2. Roll out the first ball of dough to about 10 in circle (the Pastry Mat is so helpful into rolling the correct size)
  3. Cut the dough into 8 triangles using a Pizza Cutter
  4. Add a small amount of the Apricot Preserves to the wide edge of each triangle
  5. Start by rolling each triangle: roll dough over the Preserves, pinch the dough , keep rolling, pinch the ends then shape into a crescent (see my video)
  6. Do that with all the dough balls
  7. Place parchment paper into a large cookie sheet, add the crescents
  8. Bake at 350F for 15 min, do not overbake
  9. Cool slightly over a wire rack and dust with icing sugar
  10. These are so delicious, they melt in your mouth
